Reading with a child is an enjoyable activity that helps him or her learn new words and explore the world using the imagination. A child can learn the meaning of words and build comprehension skills that will be used for the rest of their lives.

Reading every day consistently gives an opportunity to look forward to a time of fun learning. There are multiple books to choose from on a variety of topics. However, you may find your child prefers the same book read to them multiple times. This is perfectly ok because the repetition helps the child recognize words easily and automatically.

Here is a suggestion for a vibrant engaging picture book–Hoovey Pals Adventures: Curly’s Surprise Makeover. This book whimsically tells how an apparent bad day can result in a good cause. It is funny and thought-provoking even for the adult reading with a child.

Our books feature types and shadows of biblical concepts. Curly’s Surprise Makeover is reminiscent of the disciple Peter’s statement to Jesus “Wash all of me, not just my feet.” The book also allows the child to get a glimpse of farm life and learn about different types of lambs.
